Terracotta Roof Restoration

When a terracotta roof is in good condition, it can greatly enhance the overall appearance of a home. The tiles, often made of terracotta, can add a unique and elegant touch to the architecture of the building. However, over time, exposure to the elements can cause the tiles to become dirty, stained, and covered in moss and lichen. This not only detracts from the beauty of the roof, but can also create issues in terms of leaks. Cracked and broken tiles can allow water to seep into the home, causing damage to the structure and potentially leading to mold growth.

At Terrex Roofing, we understand the importance of maintaining the integrity and appearance of a tiled roof. Our team is fully equipped to tackle even the most decrepit looking terracotta roof.

We begin by replacing any broken tiles, which is a crucial step in preventing leaks. We also replace any rusted valley irons, which are the metal components that redirect the water to the guttering system. Additionally, we re-bed ridge capping, which is the area where the tiles meet at the peak of the roof.

This is important to ensure that all ridge caps are fully sealed, preventing water from entering the home.

Once these essential repair jobs are carried out, we clean the tiles with a high-pressure cleaner to remove unsightly dirt, grime, and stains. An anti-fungal treatment is then applied to help prevent the re-growth of any mold, moss, or lichen – therefore prolonging the ‘just cleaned’ appearance.

Finally, we re-point all ridge capping, which is the process of filling in any gaps between the ridge capping and the tiles with a colour-matched flexible acrylic compound. This helps to prevent water from entering the home and ensures a finished and polished look. By the end of the terracotta roof restoration process, the roof will look like new, and the home will be protected from leaks.
